Ringwood Art Society

Artist of the Year

24 September to 19 October

The Artist of the Year is an annual exhibition by Ringwood Art Society. The exhibition is a showcase of new works by artists from the group. Entrants are invited to submit three artworks in two different mediums, and in each of the three subject categories: Portrait, life study and landscape.

Each year a renowned Melbourne artist judges the exhibition. This year it is Alan Close, who will announce the winner of the 2018 Artist of the year at the launch. Alan Close is an Artist/Illustrator and president of the Whitehorse Arts Association with over forty years experience in in fine art, design, photography, illustration, and mural art.

From the inaugural meetings held in members houses in 1966 the Ringwood Art Society has greatly expanded and since 2015 has called Maroondah Federation Estate home. Ringwood Art Society has flourished in the vibrant community surrounds and in addition to forthcoming exhibitions at Maroondah Access Gallery, they are continually refreshing their pop-up exhibition in the ‘Lifestyle Gallery’ hallway at Maroondah Federation Estate.

At the end of each year, the final exhibition by Ringwood Art Society highlights the range of talents of its members – this year called, Rain, Hail, Shine. The exhibition is open to all Ringwood Art Society members, and provides members an opportunity for them to show-off their skill – as they are encouraged to explore new styles and mediums without the confines of guidelines.
