About the exhibition

Wooden it be lovely follows Flossie’s personal journey of finding place in the community. Her dynamic installations using familiar domestic materials, explore how our social well-being is linked with our everyday environment. Substantially using the medium of wood, Wooden it be lovely builds on how well-being is engrained and built in the individual. Minimalist depictions of the familiar become creative metaphors for well-being, the self and the connections we develop with community.

Canadian-born, and now Maroondah-based, Flossie Peitsch is a noted visual artist. Her artwork is created through an engagement with communities and she has developed numerous major art projects relating to Australia’s history and current ways of life. The multifaceted installations of this exhibition reflect her creative inquiry into the everyday environment and its changing social relationships and community values.
