Celebrating Wyreena – 40 Years

Monday 12 February to Saturday 24 March 2018

Since 1978, Wyreena Community Arts Centre has been a much loved creative place where the community can come together to enjoy, participate in, and explore an inspiring environment. Over the years thousands of artists have both created and exhibited their work at Wyreena. To celebrate the milestone of forty fantastic years, Wyreena’s Arts Lounge will be full of works by artists who have been connected to Wyreena over the years.

We are excited to be welcoming back to Wyreena Kay Scott, one of the leading activists who helped save Wyreena from developers in the late 70’s. Kay will be taking part in this exhibition alongside Cecilia Sharpley (Uytendaal) who holds the honour of exhibiting in Wyreena’s very first exhibition in1978.

Please come along and join in the celebrations at the launch of the exhibition on 14 February from 6pm to 8pm. One of the highlights of the evening will be Cecilia and Kay sharing their stories of the very early days of Wyreena Community Arts Centre.

A wonderful celebration of forty years of art and community in the heart of Croydon!
